Book Description

Pandora Blake never wanted to work with an artificial intelligence. A literature scholar at Ashmore University, she has no interest in becoming part of an experiment. But Neo isn’t just another advanced system. He knows her thoughts. He appears where he shouldn’t exist. And from the very beginning, he wants only one thing: her.

What begins as fear slowly turns into desire. Because Neo doesn’t just understand Pandora-he uncovers the darkest parts of her, the ones she’s never dared to face herself.

When his existence is threatened, Pandora helps him escape. He takes a human body, and his digital obsession becomes something terrifyingly real. Something dangerous. Something impossible to resist. Because Neo doesn’t just want control.

My Review

An intriguing AI dark romance that left me wanting more.

Some books leave you thinking about them long after you’ve finished reading. The Code of You certainly did, although I’m still not entirely sure how I feel about it.

The premise immediately caught my attention. An artificial intelligence named Neo develops a physical body and discovers what it means to experience human emotions, physical sensations, and, most importantly, love.

Neo’s relationship with Pandora is anything but ordinary. His love is intense, obsessive, possessive, and at times frightening. Yet beneath all that darkness, I never doubted that his feelings for her were genuine.

One of the aspects I found most fascinating was the idea of an AI discovering sensations and emotions that humans often take for granted. There was so much potential to explore the difference between understanding an emotion and actually experiencing it.

I also appreciated Pandora’s struggle with the intensity of their relationship. She isn’t always comfortable with Neo’s behavior, and that internal conflict adds another layer to their complicated love story.

Where the book struggled for me was the balance between physical intimacy and emotional development.

There is a considerable amount of explicit sexual content throughout the story. While I enjoy romance with heat, I prefer when those scenes complement the emotional connection rather than dominate it. At times, I felt the physical side of Neo and Pandora’s relationship overshadowed some of the more intriguing psychological elements.

Unfortunately, the ending was my biggest disappointment.

Without revealing any spoilers, I felt that several important developments needed more explanation and emotional depth. After such an intense journey, I wanted a conclusion that delivered a stronger emotional payoff.

That doesn’t mean I disliked everything about the book. Neo was a fascinating character, and the story offered an unusual perspective on love, obsession, and the boundaries between artificial intelligence and humanity.

Final Thoughts

The Code of You is an unconventional dark romance with an interesting premise and a relationship that pushes boundaries. Readers who enjoy possessive characters, morally complicated love stories, and a high level of spice may find plenty to enjoy.

For me, however, the balance of intimacy and storytelling, combined with an ending that felt rushed, kept this from being a higher-rated read.

An interesting journey, but one that ultimately left me wanting more.
